Trade Regulations are policy instruments that govern a country’s import and export trade. These Regulations are in forms of:

• Legislations (Acts of Parliament)
• Regulations to Legislations
• Statutory Instruments issued by different Ministries

Trade Regulations define what can be imported into and exported from Zimbabwe, the conditions thereof, in terms of import or export permit. They also outline the restricted/prohibited import and export products.

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce is entrusted with the mandate to make, amend or remove any trade regulation in Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwe-Consignment Based Conformity Assessment (CBCA) Programme controls the importation of hazardous and sub-standard products. Bureau Veritas has been appointed by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to verify and assess conformity of goods in the source (exporting) country (pre-shipment verification).
