ZimTrade to host UNPD Vendor Registration Seminar
ZimTrade will, once again, host a Vendor Briefing and Registration Seminar to be conducted in Harare by the United Nations Procurement Division (UNPD) from 15-16 November 2016. The Seminar follows similar ones held in Harare and Bulawayo in 2015.
The objective of the Seminar is to create awareness of the opportunities that exist within the multi-billion dollar United Nations market as well as to assist local companies to register on the UN Vendor Roster.
According to the UNPD, out of 8 700 registered companies on the UN Vendor List, only 35 are Zimbabwean companies. The first day of the Seminar will entail training of Trade Support Institutions (TSIs) and relevant Government Ministries, to equip their staff with the requisite skills to assist local companies to register.
The second day is targeted at selected companies with a potential to supply the UN market. Business opportunities that exist within the global humanitarian market will be shared at this session.
In 2015, the United Nations (UN) procured goods and services worth US$3.1 billion mainly from the UAE, USA, Sudan, Russia, South Africa and Italy.
The goods and services procured included chemicals and petroleum products, architecture, engineering and construction related services, prefabricated buildings, security and safety equipment, among others.
