ZIMBABWEAN COMPANIES REALISE VALUE FROM AB7

Eight (8) Zimbabwean companies recently participated at this year’s Africa’s Big Seven, a specialised food value chain exhibition, that takes place annually in South Africa.

The participating companies expressed satisfaction with the quality and number of visitors to the Zimbabwe Pavillion. Speaking of their participation, Peta Searle, the Founder of Petalilli said “This exhibition was a success for us, as we have received numerous enquiries from distributors, hotels, restaurants and for me as an organic distributor, I would like to see our teas in all health shops in South Africa”.

Also commenting on the exhibition, Unicare’s Divisional Manager Manufacturing, Finance and Administration, Marina Khun said, “We appreciate ZimTrade’s support as we recorded a number of leads, not only in South Africa, but in other countries in the region”.

The products on show included; beverages, honey, herbal teas, dairy products, sweets, biscuits, organic baobab products, condiments, jams and marmalades, among other food products.

The exhibition provided a platform for companies to market their products to regional and international buyers from over 70 countries. Apart from South Africa, other potential buyers who visited the Zimbabwe Pavillion were from Mozambique, Nigeria, Poland, Pakistan, China, South Korea and Japan.

Participating companies had the opportunity to benchmark with industry best practice and learn new trends such as online retailing, organic foods, distribution channels as well as regulatory issues on packaging and labelling, among others.
