Preparations for the 2018 Annual Exporters’ Conference set for 4 October 2018, are in full swing with an exciting lineup of speakers and guests being confirmed. This year’s conference theme, “Accelerating Export Growth for sustainable Economic Development” will stir focused discussions on how exporters, policymakers and other stakeholders can overcome challenges inhibiting Zimbabwe’s export performance.
The Conference aims to foster dialogue and linkages between delegates, this year comprising an expected 150 business leaders from a wide range of sectors who will together agree on actionable solutions to improve the country’s trade balance. Delegates will also benefit from engagements with several regional and international speakers who have been invited to share their knowledge and experiences.
The information shared by the speakers will inform decisions on how Zimbabwean products can successfully
penetrate key international markets going forward. ZimTrade has hosted the Exporters’ Conference since 2012, using the highprofile platform to reflect on the country’s export performance, and to seek inclusive best-practice approaches to improving Zimbabwe’s trade performance. All conclusions are drawn with a view to improving international competitiveness through quality and pricing.
As per previous years, the Conference will be followed by an Awards Gala Dinner, a glamorous and fun evening where Zimbabwe’s leading exporters in a range of categories will be recognized for their efforts and successes in reaching markets beyond our borders.
This year’s conference will take place against a backdrop of optimism among Zimbabwean businesspeople, given
the commitment to economic recovery and reform by His Excellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa. There is hope that through sound policy reform, Zimbabwean companies can start to retool, retrain, and reinvest to reduce production costs and improve quality. Engaging with the business community and policymakers at the Conference offers delegates an effective platform from which to contribute to this critical recovery process.
